Thank you for visiting and welcome to the first blog post of my life (hard to believe, but true)!

As many of you know, I recently left WebCT after 11 years, and am excited to be working with the open source community. As LMS usage has moved from leading edge to mainstream over the past few years, I wanted get back to my roots, and be involved again with innovation in teaching and learning.

The open source community has been developing and furthering great tools and technologies - wikis, blogs, podcasting, social networking, to name a few. Yet none of these tools talked to the commercial learning management systems, such as WebCT and Blackboard.

My goal with Aperto is to bridge this gap, and to find meaningful and compelling ways to integrate these innovative technologies with the learning management systems.

The best part about my role at WebCT was the exposure to the diverse set of institutions around the globe - each with their own unique needs. I look forward to working with many of you in this new role.
